Hibiscus earring, brooch or hair comb
Hibiscus earring, brooch or hair comb
The hibiscus earrings are directly inspired by the first flower I fell completely in awe of as I grew out of childhood and into womanhood dreaming of tropical living. A not so subtle touch of Tiki or Polynesian aesthetic.
These very large yet quite light weight statement earrings are composed of hand dyed and partially stiffened vintage (and very limited in quantity) floral shaped lace hand sewn into a 3 dimensional shape with raw brass components. They are available in hibiscus inspired colours mimicking the botanical world. As the dyeing process is done in many layers and steps, the colors may vary (the photos are for reference only). They will be made to order with slightly longer delays as the rest of our collection for this reason.
I have decided to offer this sculptural flower as a single earring, a pair, a brooch or a hair comb as it can easily find it’s place in any of these locations depending on your preference. (images of options to come…)
Please note, as a pair these earrings are quite imposing and therefor in most cases, I believe a single earring may be easier to wear with an asymmetrical hair do or so.
Earring option : Comes on hypoallergenic gold plated 316 steel ear post, with 2 stopper options included : a faux-pearl ball for structure and a disk backing. The Faux-pearl backing does allow to wear as a brooch but will not lay completely flat so keep that in mind.
Brooch option : Comes on your choice of lapel pin style attachment or safety pin style attachement.
Hair comb option : Comes on 36 cm wide golden brass hair comb.
Flower measure approximately 8 cm in diameter (extremity of lace).
Each earring weighs approximately 7.5 grams including backing.
Care tips : Use iron on low or flat iron (hair) on petals to expand/reshape flowers. Spot clean white lace with stain removers such as '“Tide-to-go” or “Shout” wipes .
Handmade with love in our Montreal studio.
Very limited edition due to the vintage and exotic sourcing of the materials.
