La Rose brooch or boutonnière is directly inspired by the classic red rose that has carried deep cultural meaning throughout human history. Mostly seen as a symbol of eternal love, I specifically had La Rose from literary classic, “Le Petit Prince” in mind when designing this piece. A tale with profound lessons in human values we seem to be forgetting these days…
This large yet quite light weight statement piece is composed of hand dyed vintage lace meticulously hand sewn into a 3 dimensional shape with a raw brass stem. It is available in rose inspired colours mimicking the botanical world. As the dyes are hand mixed, the colors may vary slightly.
La Rose is offered as a lapel style brooch/pin which is sturdy and lays flatter on apparel. I recommend this option for those who don’t intend to wear them as earrings though the earrings may also be worn as a pin style brooch. Find them here.
Comes on gold plated 316 steel pin with cap.
Flower measures approximately 3.5 cm in width. Total length from top to bottom is 7.5 cm.
Weighs approximately 8 grams.
Care tips : Spot clean white lace with stain removers such as '“Tide-to-go” or “Shout” wipes. Brass is raw and may be polished as many times as desired with a polishing pad of cloth (available here).
